Walter’s Cedar Lake detour ends with top-15 IRA showing

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) May 12, 2021 – After rain forced a late adjustment to their weekend racing plans, Josh Walter and the Torque Racing team made the most of scheduling detour by turning in a solid showing against a stout field of 410 Sprint Car drivers during a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. on Saturday, May 8.

The team had planned to trek to the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa for the track’s weekly 410 racing action on Saturday, May 8. However, rain cancelled the program, which prompted Walter and crew to turn their attention to an IRA event at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Walter was among 31 IRA 410 Sprint Car drivers to sign in for the event.

The 17th year Plymouth, Wis. driver qualified 11th with a lap of 11.957 seconds before lining up second and finishing second in the third 10-lap IRA heat race on the lightning fast three-eighths mile high-banked clay oval to earn a spot in the 30-lap main event.

Walter began the A-main 11th and held his own through a slew of caution flags to post a respectable 13th-place showing in the team’s second outing of the 2021 season.

After taking the upcoming weekend off, Josh Walter and Torque Racing team are scheduled to take part in a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, May 22. Legends and Street Stocks will also be on the card.

The 2021 Torque Racing pit crew includes Chad DeKarske, Justin Vorpagel, Andrew Rieth, Mike Behr, Noah Koepke, Dean Shelinske, Tiffany Vorpagel and Stephanie Walter.

“Our team is made up of many sponsors, silent sponsors, crew members, friends and family members,” Torque Racing 410 Sprint Car driver Josh Walter said. “That is why we call ourselves Torque Racing. When I first started racing, it was Josh Walter Racing, but I just didn't feel right having my name on the car when so many other people have been involved and take just as much pride in our race team as I do. It all starts with my wife, Stephanie, and kids allowing me the time away to go race and work on the car.”

Torque Racing Pit Crew Spotlight – Chad DeKarske, crew chief

“Chad DeKarske is the crew chief that every crew needs,” Josh Walter said. “He's patient, easy to talk to and listens to feedback. Not to mention that there is nothing he won't do on the car when asked. He is the main setup guy, with years of experience at the track and very thorough when it comes to making sure the car is safe and ready to go.”

Torque Racing sponsors for the 2021 season include Dlapa Construction, Brittany's School of Dance, Sheboygan by Owner, SCA Inc., Cow Pies, Full Throttle Ink, Lakehouse Bar & Grill, Home Transitions, Oostburg Concrete Products, RC Custom Design and Pedal Down Promotions.
